Bruno Pelagatti's Biography (Tenor)

 

He studied at L. d'Annunzio Musical Academy from Pescara and at National Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome.

 

During the years 1972/73 he won the following international contests:

 

  • "Citta di Adria"
  • "Teatro dell'Opera di Roma"
  • "Città di Foggia" U. Giordano Award
  • "Reggio Emilia"(Achille Peri)where during the others editions other famous performers as Luciano Pavarotti,Mirella Freni,Raina Kabaivanska Azuma Atsuko got awarded.

 

He studied with: Gianna Pederzini, Paolo Silveri, Giacomo Lauri Volpi (lyrical reperthory), Maria Luisa Pediconi, Giorgio Favaretto (Chamber music reperthory).

 

After finishing the Interpretation's courses at "Opera di Roma" Theater, he made his debut with the Opera "Rigoletto".

During the same year he performed on "Elisir D'amore"and "Lucia di Lammermoor" in the most prestigious theaters like the San Carlo from Naples.

During the years 1975/76 he performed "La Bohème","La Traviata" and "Rigoletto".

During the bicentenary of Independence day Of the United States, in Washington and New York, he performed with music from "Rigoletto", "La Traviata" and "Stabat Mater" accompanied by the Simphonic "radiotelevisione Italiana" orchestra and Alessandro Scarlatti from Naples.

From 1977 to 1980 he performed in various theater of Munich, Stuttgart and Zurich. In 1981, Tokyo, he made his debut with the Fujiwara Opera Foundation (the most important lyrical theater in Japan) performing "Rigoletto" and having a brilliant response from critics and audience, and in Nagasaki with "Madama Butterfly", performed just where Cho Cho San's house(the main character of the Opera) was sat, with the magestive interpretation of Japanese "Prima Donna" of opera Azuma Atsuko.

In the city of Osaka he played the role of Cavaradossi from the Opera of "Tosca" with the soprano Azuma Atsuko.

In Kyoto, during the Cultural twinning with the city of Florence, he represented the Italian "Bel Canto" from 1700 to 1900 with Opera and chamber music pieces.

At the end of 1981 he accepted the professorship of Canto Lirico of Musical University of Musashino Ondai from Tokyo, considered one of the most prestigious university of Japan, till the year 1987.
During this period he made master classes of vocal technique and interpretation of Opera and chamber music reperthory at "Shobi"University. Beyond his didactics activities, he continued his artistic career performing "Elisir d'Amore", "Lucia di Lammermoor","La Traviata","La Bohème","Tosca" and especially "Rigoletto",all over the main cities of Japan.

He performed in many charity concerts from Tokyo and Kyoto. He made a series of concerts broadcast by Asahi Television, performing with the Simphonic Orchestra of tokyo.

In 1991 he performed in "Simphony Hall" of Osaka, in the artistic season where other main performers as Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras has performed. Various are his recordings made for Columbia records in Japan. He recorded all the reperthory from F. Paolo Tosti and G. d'Annunzio, two composers that have in common the same native land with Bruno Pelagatti.

From 1986 M° Bruno Pelagatti is a member of International Canto Commission. During the international conference about otolaryngology with the collaboracion of the world prestigious professor Minoru Hirano and his equipe, he demonstrated (trough the insertion of microcamera within his nostrils) what happen to the vocal system during the speaking and the singing.

In 1992 M° Bruno Pelagatti, with his collaborator, he founded the "Accademia Del Bel Canto" and the association "Amici Del Bel Canto" (friends of Bel Canto) with his branchs in Seoul, Pusan and Ulsan in Korea, in Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto in Japan and in Italy with the main directive base in Pescara. In Japan and Korea, M°Bruno Pelagatti has intensive schedule of master classes, public classes, seminars and broadcasting's appearances.
Various trade journals had publishes his topics about the "Bel Canto" technique, especially about the breathing, the using of dyaphragm, emissions and much more. His book about the vocality of "Bel Canto", "The Gift", will be released soon, translated in Japanese and Korean too.
